Lately I have been looking for more ways to make a little extra money without having to take on a part time job. Money is tight for just about everyone right now and we could all benefit from an additional source of income no matter how small.
Money from Freelance Writing Opportunities
I have begun working as an online freelance writer for various companies who connect authors with clients needing written works. At first I was just trying it out and only wrote about once a week, but now I try to write almost every day. It has been paying off pretty well, especially whenever I get in my groove and the words flow quickly. I have truly been enjoying it, so I thought it would only be fair to share this with you.
I want every parent to have a chance at staying home with their baby if that is what they desire. I understand how that feels and I believe that resigning from my great career to care for my baby was the right decision for me. It has been difficult at times but finding flexible work-from-home type of jobs has helped us greatly.
If you enjoy writing and do reasonably well at it, then I think you will have a good time making some extra cash in the comfort of your own home through freelance writing gigs. Currently, I am working with Text Broker the most and find their business model most conducive for me.
Writing for Text Broker
When you sign up with Text Broker, they grade your first work to establish the quality of your writing. Once you have been accepted, you will be able to choose any article you want to write about as long as it is at or below your established writing level. Text Broker pays per word and the higher your writing level, the more you will get paid. You don’t have a minimum number of articles to write and you don’t have to write anything that you don’t like. Plus, you can cash out every week if you have $10 or more in your account.
Writing for Freelancer Careers
Freelancer Careers is another good freelance writing company that lets you choose the articles you write and how many. I haven’t worked with them for long so I do not have as much experience. They base the pay on the quality of your work but also give better pay for articles with short deadlines, unlike Text Broker. I may end up writing for them more in the near future as I adjust to their flow of business.
Other Helpful Tips
Occasionally I enjoy stopping by Freelance Writing Jobs, a freelance writer’s blog, for helpful tips and encouragement.
I have visited several freelance websites that do not specifically say you get to choose what you write about and I never sign up with those companies. Some have a specific number of articles you must write per week and do not let you pick which ones you write about.
Be cautious concerning which companies receive your personal information and be sure you agree before “signing” their terms of service.
Enjoy your work and take pride in your accomplishments!
I have a wonderful guest post from Becky with some great tips on increasing fertility for those who are trying to get pregnant. Becky is a freelance writer that has a passion for technology, education, and careers. In her spare time she loves to experiment with new types of dishes in the kitchen along with keeping up a healthy lifestyle.
Natural Ways to Increase Fertility
While getting pregnant is natural, millions of couples struggle to conceive each year. The truth of the matter is that getting pregnant isn’t easy, and many couples, even those deemed healthy and fertile, often must wait for months before conception is achieved.
While many couples who struggle with fertility wait on the kindness of those donating eggs or in vitro fertility treatments, there are several inexpensive and natural ways that can increase your success. A few ways to increase your fertility naturally include:
Watch Your Vitamins
Men tend to suffer if they don’t get adequate vitamin C in their diets while women suffer if they get too much. Men who lack vitamin C tend to have high amounts of damaged sperm, and women who get too much vitamin C in their diets tend to be less fertile because the high levels of the vitamin causes their cervical fluid to dry up. So men should take a supplement while women need to monitor how much vitamin C they consume.
Easy on the Caffeine
Those who have high levels of caffeine in their diets reduce their chances of becoming pregnant by nearly one third. If you want to increase your chances of becoming pregnant, both you and your partner need to keep your caffeine consumption below 300mg which means that the regular pot of coffee you drink every morning should be skipped – as one cup of coffee has nearly 100mg of caffeine in it.
While tea does have caffeine in it, the amount is minimal compared to coffee – only about 30mg per cup, and the benefits may outweigh the detriments. Women who drink on average two cups of tea a day may nearly double the likelihood of conception, perhaps because of the high level of antioxidants in tea.
Watch Your Weight
In order to have the best chance of becoming pregnant, women need to be neither too thin or too overweight. Those with a BMI in between 20-25 percent are the most likely to conceive. Anything under 18 percent or over 25 percent are the least likely to conceive so to have the best chances at conception you should lose or gain weight accordingly.
The sugar found in milk, galactose, has been found in high levels in women who are often deemed infertile. So in order to avoid having this sugar build up in your body, avoid drinking milk. If you are worried about getting adequate calcium, simply take a supplement instead, or eat dark green vegetables that are high in calcium such a broccoli.
While fertility treatments are helpful and often successful, they aren’t perfect and are expensive – so much so that many couples can’t afford them. However, you don’t have to pay thousands of dollars to increase your odds of conception. Simply giving a few of the natural fertility boosters a try may dramatically increase your odds, allowing you to finally have that family you’ve always wanted.
My baby is growing so fast and I don’t have a good current family photo, yet. I love the look of a canvas print, so I am very excited about getting a family picture printed on rolled canvas from UPrinting. If you remember, I did a UPrinting giveaway last year for postcards, and I enjoyed working with them so well that I decided to host another giveaway.
I am anxiously waiting to receive my large rolled canvas print for our family portrait and I wanted to give you a chance to win this great prize too. UPrinting uses premium artist canvas material with soy ink to make their canvas prints. Once you upload your image and place the order, it only takes one business day for them to finish it.
If you don’t need a canvas print for yourself, it would also make a great gift for a friend or family member. This could also be used to print off your own personal artwork. Whatever you use it for, it will look like a stylish and valuable family heirloom. Plus, it’s a $35-40 value!
16” x 20” Rolled Canvas Print for one winner
With 2-inch border (for framing) or no border
1 Business Day Turnaround time
Free shipping within the US
You should assume that the owner of this blog will receive free print products in exchange for the post. Any and all reviews posted are based solely on my own experience and may be atypical. Please practice due diligence in making any related purchase decisions.
Breastfeeding a Toddler:
I have now reached the 18 month breastfeeding milestone with my precious baby or, more accurately, toddler and we are doing quite well. It has been a wonderful bonding process that I would not trade for anything. I’m just not sure if I will be able to give up this special time with my baby.
Since her first birthday, I have been very slowly weaning her and we are now down to one nursing session before bed. The weaning process has been much easier on both of us by doing it this way. I mostly have been taking her lead in slowly dropping the times we nurse but I think it will be hard to cut out this bed time breastfeeding session.
My husband has been dropping hints that I need to wean her completely now, but I just don’t feel ready yet. Watching your baby turn into an independent person makes you sad and happy at the same time. It also makes me want to have another baby, although I am not sure if I can handle that much more responsibility right now.
For the time being, I am content with looking back at how far we have come as a family. Seeing my baby grow and develop while giving me plenty of challenges to work through has made our family bond tighter and me a little wiser. I have truly enjoyed growing into the role of Mother by caring for my sweet Anneliese.
Now, my sweet little baby has turned into a rambunctious toddler with a will of her own. She doesn’t slow down to nurse until we have gone through her bedtime routine. I think in the next month we may both be ready to wean completely from nursing.
It’s a little sad to think about now, but it is one step among many on the road towards independence. I will just have to get used to the idea that she may always be my baby but she will not remain a baby for long.
Breastfeeding my baby has been a wonderful, precious chapter in my life and I would encourage every new mom to try it before formula. This was the best decision I could have made for my baby thus far. We are healthy and happy, and we have made it 18 months.
Maybe I will end up breastfeeding her until she is two, I’m not sure yet. I suppose we will cross that bridge when we get there. How about you?

With the little ones running around, it can be tough for mom to get any time to herself, let alone time to stay in shape. Bikram Yoga is not only a great way to relax and de-stress, it also provides an intense workout that will help you get back the figure you remember. A full set can be completed in just an hour, and unlike many forms of yoga, it will definitely leave you feeling like you got a workout.
Bikram Yoga, named for founder Bikram Choudrey, is purely hatha, or physical. The room is usually reminiscent of a sauna, kept warm to help loosen stiff muscles and joints. The heated room has been shown to increase your metabolism and speed up the burning of fats. It is a little off putting at first because it’s out of the ordinary, but you learn to enjoy it when you start feeling the benefits. The first set of poses are performed standing, while the second half is made up of more intense floor work. Each pose is repeated twice, allowing the muscles to become more flexible quickly. The series starts slowly with breathing and warm ups, and leads to more intense poses as you go along.
The poses can be intimidating at first, and Bikram warns that you may feel a bit like a “baby elephant” when trying to work your body into challenging positions, but this style of yoga can work for any skill level. Perform the poses every day to the best of your ability and within a month you will be astounded at your increased flexibility and comfort level. It took me around a month before I didn’t feel like I had to watch everyone else and emulate what they were doing. The first time was hard, of course, because I had never really experienced yoga before, but the learning curve isn’t too steep where it’s off putting. The temperature and the challenging nature of the positions will get you burning calories, while the deep relaxation necessary to fully achieve each pose will leave you feeling refreshed and energized.
For mothers to be, Bikram Yoga can help give you greater control over your muscles and a greater pelvic flexibility that can ease the birth process. Just make sure to approve some of the more challenging positions with your doctor. Bikram Yoga is a great option for a wide range of people. Those who want the flexibility afforded by yoga but don’t feel challenged enough by a slower pace will get the challenge they crave. Doing Bikram once a week can help you gain the benefits, but multiple times a week can give you optimal stress and anxiety benefits for your health and wellness. Yoga could also assist patients diagnosed with different types of mesothelioma. Mothers with a limited amount of time in the day will enjoy the fact that it only takes a single hour to perform. People with physical conditions that prevent more extreme forms of exercise will be able to go at their own pace and slowly build their strength.
Bikram Yoga is a fun and effective way to reach your fitness goals, which is well worth giving a try.
