making babiesSince I never struggled with trying to conceive, I don’t really talk about preconception issues here on My Baby Experience. Anneliese was a wonderful unplanned surprise, but I know others who have not been so blessed. Since having Anneliese, I learned that there are many things a woman can do to prepare her body for growing a baby. As Shoshanna Easling says in her book, “there is an art to making babies,” hence the name of the book and DVD set is simply called “Making Babies.”

I was so excited about cracking this book open when I received it in the mail, because I have yet to learn about how to make your body healthy for growing a baby. This was one topic that I did not need to research because I skipped the “trying to conceive” stage of making a baby. Then, once I got into it, I realized this book is not just for conception and early pregnancy. It is a big, hardcover volume of information and recipes (with plenty of awesome pictures) about preconception through the first six months of a baby’s life. It’s not just for mom, it’s for baby too!

Shoshanna’s Family

Shoshanna Easling is an herbalist and advocate for “fertility, pregnancy, and birth the natural way,” as she has described on the cover of her book and DVD set. She encourages the use of herbs and natural remedies for women who are trying to conceive all the way through postpartum recovery. She makes it sound so easy, even though I no nothing about the herbal world. The DVD series expands on what she talks about in her book and makes for a great introductory tool into the herbal world. I have learned so much already and I haven’t completely finished with the series yet. Although Shoshanna does not go into detail about the different stages of pregnancy (remember: she is not a doctor or midwife), she gives some great advice for all of the common pregnancy and postpartum complaints. Most of the book is comprised of remedies and recipes with great pictures that not only whet your appetite but also help show you what the finished product should look like. Plus, the great thing about these recipes is that they are good for everyone and delicious! (This has been a great encouragement for me to keep up my New Year’s resolution to eat healthier.)

If you want to have a healthy, natural pregnancy or just want to live a more natural healthy life, this is a great set to get you started. By the way, she also has an online Bulk Herb Store where you can buy most of what you need for these recipes. Plus, I think I am going to keep this beautiful book on my coffee table, because it looks so good with wonderful photography inside. Please enter in my giveaway for the “Making Babies” set which includes the hardcover book and series of 3 DVDs. And while you are waiting for this giveaway to end, go check out her YouTube videos to see a bit of her work for yourself.

Author Bio: As a new mother, I wanted to know everything I could about parenting but it was difficult to sift through the web for real experiences and motherly knowledge on parenting. I hoped to make My Baby Experience an informative site for all those who are expecting or are parents themselves. Whenever I find good resources for us parents, I try to share them so we can all benefit. I hope you enjoy and contribute!
