PostHeaderIcon Cabin Fever (and Our Toddler Playing on the Ice)

  Written By: Melainie

Winter time means cold weather and with that brings cabin fever. So far, we have been blessed with a very mild winter up here in the Alaskan arctic. One day we even had the temperature go above freezing! Whenever I chat with one of the local Inupiat natives, they say the weather feels like springtime.

PostHeaderIcon Sleepy Toddler Video

sleeping toddlerToddlers seem to have only two modes; either you can’t keep up with them or you can’t keep they awake. There is something about seeing a sleeping child that makes everyone smile- toddlers and babies look so precious when they are sleeping. I love to watch Anneliese sleep but watching her try to stay awake can be fun too. I think this video of my toddler trying to stay awake while eating is hilarious.

PostHeaderIcon My Adorable Dancing Toddler (Video)

Anneliese loves dancing, especially when the hokey pokey song is playing. We have a Sesame Street DVD that plays the Hokey Pokey and she really gets into it sometimes. She is so adorable, I just had to share this.

P.S. My house is a mess because Anneliese loves to throw her toys everywhere. So, this is pretty much how our living room looks most of the time…

arctic july 4 festival

Anneliese loved the 4th of July festivities.

One of the great things about living in a small town is getting to know everyone who lives there and having fun as a community. I was surprised with all of the extravagant festivities that were planned for the 4th of July. This small town goes all out for their Independence Day celebrations.

It was cool and a little windy, but the mosquitoes were kept away by the wind. We started the day off by going to the Independence Day parade, where we got tons of candy and goodies. I tried to take a video of the parade but then I started bending down to pick up goodies causing the camera to sway whenever I did. Since I am not a great videographer, I decided to spare everyone from motion sickness and didn’t post the video.

PostHeaderIcon My Glowing Facial with the Personal Microderm

  Written By: Melainie

home facial kitWhat stay-at-home mama has the cash or time to go to the spa for a professional facial? I will definitely never do that, but I do have 15 minutes during my day to do it myself. Also, the price tag for my very own PMD personal microdermabrasion kit is much better than the one-time-only treatment cost at the spa.

At first glance this seems like something an older person would need, not for the 25 year old mom. Actually, I have learned that microdermabrasion does a lot more than erase fine lines and wrinkles. It also evens skin tone, buffs away blemishes, scars, acne, even mild burn marks, and helps diminish the skin’s imperfections at the Stratum Corneum layer of skin. This is something no cream or moisturizer could ever do, because it is deep down where only a dermabrasion treatment can reach.

Just watch how quick and easy it was for me to give myself an at-home microdermabrasion treatment. (Keep in mind: I did watch the 5 minute instructional DVD that came in the kit before trying the PMD for myself.)

Sometimes a woman just needs to pamper herself and do something that makes her feel extra beautiful. I had some acne and chicken pox scars that, although not very visible, have always bothered me. I was really excited about trying this product and improving my complexion. I can’t wait to see the results after a few more treatments.

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, you can read more about the PMD and purchase your own at PersonalMicroderm.com or check out their Facebook page.
